The dam in question is the Westoe dam. Next to the R33 in Mpumalanga between Amsterdam and Lothair. I will not hold it against you if those two towns are not on your annual must visit list.

Well Amsterdam is on my "must visit" list, just not that Amsterdam.

Hint: The view is towards the town of Mossel Bay, but note the proximity of a certain river mouth. Any takers?

Struisbaai is a bit further west, and I don't think you can see Mosselbay from there.
The two settlements of Reebok and Klein-Brakrivier (from where the pic was taken) are so close together as to make no difference. Well done.

My father in law lives in Groot Brak, so if you met a short, Italian, know it all.. He wouldn't perchance be that talented fellow that often plays (trombone/trumpet?) at one of the coffee shops? How many Italians can there be in Groot Brak...

How many Italians can there be in Groot Brak... Quite a few — if Groot Brak is a favourite Italian, er…, uhm…, retreat… 'Luthon64
