Beer vs. Religion

Top ten reasons beer is better than religion:

   1. No one will kill you for not drinking Beer
   2. Beer doesn't tell you how to have sex.
   3. Beer has never caused a major war.
   4. They don't force Beer on minors who can't think for themselves.
   5. When you have Beer, you don't knock on people's doors trying to give it away.
   6. Nobody has ever been burned at the stake, hanged or tortured over their brand of Beer.
   7. You don't have to wait more than 2000 years for a second Beer.
   8. There are laws saying that Beer labels can't lie to you.
   9. You can prove you have a Beer.
  10. If you've devoted your life to Beer, there are groups to help you stop.

LOL Grin at all but the last:

10. If you've devoted your life to Beer, there are groups to help you stop.

Yeah, but most of them try to get you hooked on religion instead. AA requires belief in a supreme being.

We better start hoarding a lot of beer to celebrate the second coming on the 5th May 2011. It's going to be a lekker party! Check out this link: http://www.opposingviews.com/i/jesus-returns-on-5-21-11-save-the-date

It's off-pissing that all these support groups shove god down your throat.  even codependat's anon include the god schpiel in their 12 steps.  i very quicly lifted an eyebrow, and they quickly explained that you can apply that to whatever higher power to adhere to.
i wasnt in the mood to argue the point, so i left it.  i havent been back there, coz they seem to put so much value on praying about it, as opposed to just telling me how the hell to sort my shit without involving JC and Co.
allso, it seems the meetings are, more often than not, held in church based locations.
sucks.  i tried to organise a local meeting in my office, since we have a huge boardroom.
they said, it needs to be in a neutral place.
and the kerk is neutral how?

Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, by the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) – bacteria, found in faeces.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poo..

However..!
We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor). Because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:
Water = Poo,
Wine = Health
.
Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit.

Maybe we should start a 7-step support programme to help people get over religion. "Can't take the lies anymore? Can't seem to shake that niggling irrational belief in a supreme Being? Come to Christian's Anonymous."

I'm sure the clever folk on the forum will come up with 7 cool steps too. e.g. Step 1: Look into the mirror each morning and say, "We live in a natural world."

Could be a blast.  Smiley

I agree totally. Have you seen the Penn & Teller episode about AA? They take it apart and also feature someone who started a group helping ppl in the states that is secular and free of the god crap.

The whole premise of admitting that you are powerless against the addiction and 'giving yourself over to god' makes me want to vomit. The whole point is that (I believe) you are strong enough to break the addiction.
