seems you've spoken yourself into it....good luck. A thought. Literacy lessons for the black and coloured folk could create a lot of interest and if you keep books they could read when starting out, you create customers for life.

Incidentally, my publisher is of the opinion that only 0.5% of all book sales are electronic at this point in time. If e-books are cheaper (as they are) this is sure to increase, but the technology is far from cheap at the moment for the bulk of the world's population, but then neither are books.

why is this in "tests"?

I voted "never" but would revise after mefiante's input.

That being said, within the time span of books becoming completely obsolete, there is still money to be made from such a venture.

Good luck if you do decide to do it!

"On the way out" is a bit vague.  50% drop: I'd say 15 years.  100% drop: I'd say "never" in the usual context.

Yes, well, it looks like I've managed to talk others round too.  My big bro is keen and will lend me the funds to purchase, the landlord phoned to say he will drop the rent, and this evening a friend phoned to say that she & hubby will loan me money!  My prayers have been answered I must be projecting a businesslike confidence I wasn't aware of...

The deed is done, and I am the slightly shattered owner of about 14000 books!

Respect, congrats and envy! Is the shop on the Cape South coast somewhere, because I go that way often! Wouldn't want to come across all stalker-like, but would appreciate a PM with some cryptic clues as to your shop's whereabouts.

May your business take off like a Saturn V rocket! Cheesy
