@Faerie, Where in my post above did I say, “I think marriage is crap because being in love is BS and is bound to fail.” My biggest objections with marriage are this:

a) The legal complications when you want to get divorced.

b) Marriage is very much a religious institution.

I don’t want to post my love life on a public board. If you *really* want to get married be my guest but don’t come crying if things go pear shaped. I will still tell anyone that asks me, ‘do not get married.’ It really isn’t anything personal Faerie, it is just how I see things.

Nothing personal SM, I'm just curious as to your opinions and where they come from. Nobody here (aside from JoannaArc) are really pro-marriage, but the majority are for commitment in some shape or form. I just have a final comment on your opinion about the legal complications to get divorced, yes, it can be tedious, but imagine splitting from a unmarried partner after 15 years and you have a bond, two cars and a couple kids at school, you might think it will be easier, but believe me, it will be a far more complicated mattter than a divorce where the courts (believe it or not) do attempt to bring in some fairness to the split.

ps. in my humble opinion, there is a huge difference between being "in love" and love itself. I think we only realise the difference much later in our lives (I did), when we start looking for a true partner and not just good sex and good-looking company.
