Another demonstration of how religion, like all superstitions, is a blight on humanity and civilisation, and all the more so where it is state-sanctioned religion.  And Turkey is one of the most liberal of Muslim countries.

It’s almost incidental that in this case Islam is involved.  Islam is younger than Christianity by about 700 years.  700 years ago, Christianity was as unreasonable and demanding, perhaps more so.  Looks like Islam insists on going along a similar development trajectory.  If so, we can expect a Muslim Reformation in a hundred years or so, with the burgeoning of about 40,000 schools of Islamic thought to follow thereafter over the next few hundred years…

Utterly petrifying thought.

I suspect the culture is way more different for this to have happen. But modern Islamic states where not always so draconian. The question is
what is causing these societies lager up like they have in the last 30 years.
