could they not swing it as treason?
No, SA isn’t at war, whether overt or covert, so treason and/or sedition would be summarily laughed out of court.  Nor, as far as anyone knows, is Cliff selling or passing along any state secrets or sensitive materials.  At worst, they could accuse him of being unpatriotic for not kowtowing to the whims of the ruling mob.  However, a strong case can also be made for his being very patriotic in light of his vocal concerns for SA’s future.

And Malema's shouted revolution not too long ago - and this against his own party. Fun.  We live in interesting times.

I think mefiante is right but given my skepticism I don't trust these okes whatsoever...we can argue ethics and morality till the cows come home...it means zip when you deal with politicians and mystics. Can't we organise a big sit-in when he meets with JZ...it must be a multi-racial crowd and big!

seems jz had lunch with gareth, and it was all very amicable, and jz only roasted him about getting personal about calling one politician ugly.
i do think, that he was given a heavy talking to, if not by jz, then the sab, coz i very much doubt anything of weight got discussed.  he seems very quiet about the inns and outs of the meeting.

i have noticed of gareth, that he is very outspoken about politicians on air and in general, but face to face, he's quite meek.
now, obviously, i have no clue as to what was said in the jz meeting, but i remember, when he had julias over on his show, they were chatting like old mates, and he didnt take julius on at all?
i love gareth, i do, i dont miss his show at all.
but it seems, like any normal, (non shit stirring human), when faced with the person you roasted, you can only smile and wave.
