I went to Exclusive Books in Kollonade yesterday to look for this book. They didn't have it on the shelves. The idiot I asked for help was wearing a white T-shirt with a big liewe jiesus cross on it. Inside the cross was some psalm, I didn't really read it. He was quite friendly at first, but after looking up the book on their system his face changed and he replied that they don't have it in stock; and he doesn't know when they'll get it. He also said he can't check at other branches because their system is down. He referred me to another bookstore.
I tried a couple of other bookstores as well. Funny how bookstores all have a Christian and a religion section. Is Christianity not a sub-section of Religion? Anyhow, I know I can do the Kalahari or ordering thing, but I enjoy bookstores, so I'll keep on trying.
My apologies for only getting to you now - my music takes me away for days at a time sometimes.

It's only Exclusive Books that keeps my book at the moment in SA. And the only branch to actually keep stock is the one in Centurion Mall - it's R102.00. You can order it at other EB's but it costs R160.00 to import one at a time. If their system had been up you could have ordered a copy from Centurion. I have been fighting EB head-office on this issue for some time now - I really apologize if you were inconvenienced.

A friend of mine ordered it from kalahari.net and it arrived at her door in 6 days (with postage it came to R150.65).

BTW - my book got into the top 1/4 mil on Amazon (it was rated 244000 a few days ago) so it's doing REALLY well in the USA and Canada. I'm starting to get emails from Australia, USA, Canada, UK and even Sweden - coooWELLL. It's really exciting. And I've got an article going into Freedom From Religion Foundation's newspaper next month with distribution throughout the USA - it's very exciting and encouraging.

I got my copy. And a quiz by the sales attendant whether I knew you, Stevo.

Dude ... thanks. My daughter tells me she went in to EB on Saturday and they have sold out. CooooWELLL. This helps EB see that my book will sell if they order copies for each branch - which is my next goal.

Thank you for your support Irrev, please let me know what you think of daBook. Maybe we can "do coffee" if you're in Pta because you sound like the kind of person I would like to know.

Stevo, I haven't started your book yet. A few others to finish first. I'll try to make one of the SITP's one of these days soon when the craziness subsides a bit.

Steve, any tips on getting my book ON THE SHELF? EB are not very helpful especially when they see the title as well. What did Raider do to market it if anything?

Send me an email Brian, then we can discuss this without boring our friends here on the forum. I was lucky coz I got to know the manager of the EB I hang out in the most. I am, like all skeptics, a rabid bibliophile and spend enough time in book shops for the staff to know me quite well (I also belong to the Fanatics Club). The manageress got to know me too, and she said she could order 5 of my books for her store - it was like a personal favor to me. EB Head Office? Useless. Raider? They put your book on the internet.

Those 5 books sold out in about a month (thanks guys) so she ordered more. Now I'm gonna send an email to other branch managers (like Sandton, Menlyn) and, based on the relative success of the first five, try and convince them that it's worth their while to also order 5 books. It's a long process.

Some more good news: Exclusive Books Centurion now have another 7 of my book in stock. And it's on the shelf right next to God Delusion. Friggen cool. Other Exclusive Books branches will be able to get a copy transferred to a branch near you if you can't get to Centurion. If they transfer it from Centurion the book will cost you R102 - if you order it as a once-off import it will be as much as R160.00.

Prof Mabille from UP sent me an email with brilliant news: she read my book, liked it, ordered a copy for the university library, and says, "You make a better case than Dawkins". How cool is THAT?!

I know you guys are probably sick and tired of hearing about my book but I'm very excited about the way it's being received. I even have an article going into a US newspaper called Freethought Today - probably in next month's issue.

F*ck yeah. Thanks. And from someone who has a PhD in Nietzsche and is a prof of philosophy. I'm mega-chuffed. I hope to get involved with UP doing some debates and stuff - this will all be to further the cause, make a public stand for critical thinking and skepticism in our little credulous country. You know ... I don't expect to make much money from the book (and all that) but I do want to at least make my contribution to free-thought in SA. Get the message out there. Once an evangelist, always an evangelist, I guess.

Thanks for all the support in this guys ...

Well done! Looking forward to seeing it in the top 100 or even top 10 list soon. I'm ordering a copy this weekend.

What is the title of your book? I bought Steve's book this week and I must say, for a guy that goes on an on about false arguments and baloney detection (all very interesting) to come up with his definition of God as "a real physical being" and then say this definition is found in religions like Christianity just begs the question of whether he actually knew much about Christian theology while he was a missionary and speaking in tongues...
No serious theologian or philosopher has ever posited God as some physical being.
