South African men are gang raping lesbians in an "attempt to cure them" (sounds like a rather flimsy excuse but hey...)

- Post mostly because GCG prob. cares about this cause and would like to sign. Others are ofc welcome.

thanx boogie

joke is, a lot of lesbian ladies have turned their backs on men-king because they have been raped or molested, and i bet you all the money i have, that raping them, will not change their minds.

We are a mind numbingly stupid species. How did we design computers? Surely evidence for ID...

Anyway, can anyone convince me of the productiveness of signing these kind of emails / forms?

I get the avaaz email ever so often because I once signed such a petition... and I don't mind this specific kind of chain mail so much, (it is informative if nothign else) which means I can't be bothered to unsubscribe from them. But I hardly ever bother to "add my name" as it just seems so.. futile.

I guess I can't because I'm not at the negotiation table when they present these.

What I do know is they DO attend big meetings, pitch up with the numbers, and DO (well, at least try to) put pressure on the relevant parties. They claim on various places on their site that they have been able to get results based on their petitions. You'd have to examine the evidence yourself, I haven't. I *ALSO* rarely sign or share their links.

I recall signing one a long time ago when the Dalai Lama (or whatever) wanted to come to SA. That one was definitely utterly ineffective.
cyghost (January 26, 2011, 07:32:16 AM):
Thanks. If I thought it had any effect, I'll be signing it for sure. As it is, I'll likely only sign when absolutely bored out of my skull :-\

Sometimes my apathy is astounding to even myself.
