My current beloved had some business with him (no, selling him bulk SMSs.  I swear) and went to his office.  She says his phone was a giant dildo and he talked into the balls end and listened to the other end.

Quite a character.

he created jobs, and gave men a place to escape to if the missus was in a foul mood.  many bachelor parties were held at teasers.
and i have been wanting to go for ages.
he is an icon, giving the kerk the finger, and getting rich from the eager offerings of the fold.

I dated a girl once who was a waitress at Teasers (waitress, taking drinks to customers, I promise ...). She said most of the customers were married men and many from the local kerk, even one of the ouderlinge who tried to sneak out after he saw her (hehe).

Respect to the Mr Jackson - the tease without the sleaze indeed.

Teasers is one of the few strip joints so legendary that even a lot of straight chicks I talk to want to go there, or have been there, multiple times.

I'm a bit lost on why Lolly was murdered, it's like the end of an era.

what i've hearing and reading, he was a big ganster, and his business rivals have little if anything good to say about him.
could have been a hit, or someone being gatvol of his ways...... untill the cops get the true story, we wont know.

I guess in his line of work he made enough enemies to keep the cops guessing for a long time. Poor guy - being murdered must have spoiled his day. Didn't he have hectic body-guards and stuff? Must have.

The Citizen's posters this week caused a few chuckles:

On Tuesday - WHO ICED LOLLY?
This morning - SARS WANTS LOLLY'S LOLLY

I've been snatching glances at the articles re his death, and it plays out like a Hollywood thriller. There's talk of Lolly's motorcycle found at Brett Kebble's murder scene, a hitman that was supposed to off someone else but didnt (but was paid at least on 4 occassions in some shady bar where they never paid for their meals), there's this Scandinavian neighbour who is on the run from the law in his country due to fraud and attempted murder, who was extensively interviewed by the police. His wife is now taking on the business and she's aptly named "Demi" (did she have a hand in the death???)

I love mysteries, and this one is particularly gripping!

My favourite bit of humour inspired by this incident is courtesy of Highveld (Jeremy Mansfield?):
After closing for the day to mourn the death of owner Lolly Jackson, Teasers clubs reopened today. As a sign of respect, however, the dancers will only be going halfway up their poles.

So Lolly gets popped by some sucker. Have the religious wank posses come out of the woodwork yet to start clucking about god's vengeance for an immoral life?

My girlfriend (who is mildly woo-wooish) already said to me, "He was a terrible man ..." blah blah. I said it still doesn't justify murder and we had this discussion about morality. But you are correct Irrev, the religious nuts are gonna jump on this wagon soon enough - their self-righteousness makes me sick.

One of my favourite Terry Pratchett quotes: "The smug mask of virtue triumphant could be almost as horrible as the face of wickedness revealed." From Carpe Jugulum p73

im sure a few preaches yesterday included  a well timed mention of old lolly's demise, being a just end to his ilk.
ya know, i think, creating an environment where these ladies can earn a decent pound, and as i hear, the dudes arent allowed to harrass them.  so i should imagine its better than being employed by joe-soap's tavern down the road.
i think, the adult entertainment industry, shouldnt be frowned upon, as people tend to do.  these ladies makes oodles of money, and i feel it empowers them.  if old lolly made loads of dosh cause of it, well then kudos to him.  if he was a gangsta, thats his problem.
it allso upped the ante for strip jols, you wont go to some seedy hole-in-the-wall place, coz you can go to teasers, or the grand, or lollipop lounge.

Awesome quote Steve, I'm so using that one.

Or working on the corner, down the road, much worse (for them). While some of the ladies I've seen at the 'joints (both t-zers and lollipop) are downright scary slutty, and put me off a little. I've met one or two really genuine ones, that you actually can relate to.
