The little things that irk us so

I can't really say this is particularly irksome, but I didn't want to start a whole new thread.

I recently put up some paintings for sale on bidorbuy. Within a day or two, I started noticing bidorbuy banner ads on any websites where they have ads. This sort of thing:

This makes sense; most commercial sites now have software that keeps track of users, in order to put up targeted ads, and I am not paranoid about it. What I did find funny is that bidorbuy is trying to sell me my own paintings!

I think they need to go tinker a bit with that software... :-)

I am so, so gatvol of people feeling self entitled to "power" or "authority".

I am so NOT impressed by your MBA.
I am so NOT impressed that you drive a BMW but live in a previously disadvantaged suburb because its cheap.
I am so NOT impressed with ANYTHING you think you are because of what you either own or achieve.

Really, its meaningless in its totality. You know fark all and I will correct you each and every time and believe me,

"Old age and treachery will always beat youth and exuberance." effing try me.

Excellent rant! Most of us feel like that every now and again ;D. If you are lucky enough; it really helps to escape from the corporate rat race.

You are now under obligation to regale us each time "Old age and treachery ... beat youth and exuberance."

The current trend of "inclusivity". So its Womens month. Yay. Every year we get out some speaker for a breakfast at work for the ladies speaking on something relevant to women, this year we need to include LGBTxxxx folk too, and now we have a male gay MC who took over and we have a male gay speaker telling his "story". Wafak?

Was at one last week arranged by Toyota, they gave us a demonstration on how hijackers break your window with a sparkplug. What an excellent occassion to remind women they are vulnerable, we'll give them pretty cupcakes and then show them they are targets. Whoopie! The women loved it. Go figure, i got stared at when I bought it up, Im so rude, see, the men are kind to us and you are just disruptive. Whhop! They even bought extra windows and the ladies could try themselves, complete with a dressed up mechanic showing them how to swing the arm. We throw stuff like girls see.

We bleat at the world at large to be nice to us but wont stand on our own effing feet to stop this shit. We want cupcakes AND be submissive and want someone else to protect us then whine about how unfair men are to us. Jesus wept.

Faerie: Don't even get me started on this "inclusivity" and "diversity" stuff... ::)

And then getting crucified for having "misgendered" someone. In fact, soon it will probably be illegal to raise one's own child as a boy or girl. And prepare for a black James Bond, perhaps even a black lesbian in a wheelchair Bond.

And yes, my landlady (old pal of mine) and I have had long discussions about this issue of women wanting to have their cake and eat it: they want to sit around giggling and chatting about kids and clothes, but they also want to be CEO. We want more female CEOs but not more female tramps, prisoners, combat soldiers, mine workers and suicides.

Well, unrealistic plans don't work, so perhaps the whole thing will eventually blow over.
