The number of citizen science projects seem to be taking off, very cool  Cool
This one for example just requires taking and submitting a digital picture on August the 5'th of a white piece of paper between the hours of 4 and 7 pm.

What projects do you guys belong to?

I'm currently involved in www.icehunters.org, www.citizensky.org and www.globeatnight.org

Or you could join distributed proofreaders.  They occasionally have (old, out of copyright) science books that you can help convert to etexts for distribution on Project Gutenberg.
